Summer May Finlay is a Yorta Yorta woman who grew up in Lake Macquarie near Newcastle. Summer is working on a cross-disciplinary NHMRC-funded project with Canberra University abd also teaches at the University of Wollongong. She is Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Vice President for the Public Health Association of Australia (PHAA) and has held leadership roles in PHAA’s Aboriginal Torres Strait Islander Special Interest Group and the World Federation of Public Health Association’s Indigenous Working Group. Summer has worked across the Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Sector, governments and private sectors. Summer has played a central role in social media campaigns related to science communication, including #IHMayDay, #JustJustice and #JustClimate.
