PhD Student, Monash University & Environment Protection Authority Victoria
Madeleine is undertaking a PhD with Monash University in partnership with the Environment Protection Authority Victoria. Her project focuses on the communication of public health risks from pollution and waste, and aims to better understand the practice of communication by government organisations.
After graduating with a BSc (Hons) in environmental chemistry, Madeleine has spent the last 10 years undertaking environmental assessments of contaminated land and groundwater. She has worked with industry and government organisations. Through her experiences working as an environmental health risk assessor, Madeleine has seen firsthand the important role communication plays and this led to her interest in science communication. Drawing on her background in the natural sciences, her current social science studies and her practical experiences, Madeleine hopes her PhD will improve communication efforts for environmental health issues.
