Coastal Management Specialist, NSW Department of Planning Industry and Environment
Catherine Kerr is a coastal management specialist who works in the fields of coastal management, geographic education and science communication. She is passionate about protecting the coastal environment, particularly through understanding and communicating the social, place, and spiritual values that the coast provides. She has a Marine Science Degree from the University of Sydney and a Masters in Coastal Engineering and Management from UNSW. More recently she completed a Diploma of Education in Geography from Southern Cross University. She commenced her career as a surfing instructor at Manly Surf School and has worked for the Queensland and NSW Governments in coastal engineering and science for over 10 years. She is a board member of National Surfing Reserves Australia.
