Program Leader – UNE Discovery, University of New England
Kirsti Abbott is an ant ecologist, science communicator and educator and currently Program Leader of UNE Discovery at the University of New England. She develops and facilitates transformative and playful engagement experiences in STEAM for students and communities in northern NSW. At UNE in Armidale, she is helping create a Discovery Precinct that aims to attract, engage and inspire children and families in our communities. Kirsti also runs School of Ants, a national citizen science project that helps understand the diversity, distribution and diet of Australian ants in our urban landscapes.Adam Selinger is the Creative Director of Children’s Discovery and leads the team behind all of our activities. He has a post-graduate Science Communication degree from ANU and over 25 years experience producing innovative science and technology educational events in Australia, New Zealand, Canada, South Africa, the UAE and the UK. Adam represented Children’s Discovery in a partnership with the University of Wollongong that saw the development of the Early Start Discovery Space that has been open to the public since May 2015. Adam currently manages a national public library STEM initiative.
